Jeff Stultz National Recovery Ambassador

Why do I have a desire to change my community and to change the world?

I have been a gang leader, a drug addict, a homeless person, and an inmate. I know first hand what it's like to be turned down for a jar of peanut butter at the food bank because I didn't have an ID. I know what it's like to walk all night in the cold because I was afraid if I sat down and fell asleep I would freeze. I know what it's like to drink water from a mud puddle because I had no way to get a drink of water. I know what it's like to look for food in a dumpster. I know what it's like to sleep in the crawl space of someones house to get out of the cold. I know what it's like to bumm enough money for an all day bus pass to ride a bus all day to stay out of the rain or the cold. I know what it's like to rob a senior citizen in order to get more drugs. I know what it's like to sit in jail not knowing what's going on outside or when I might get out. I know what it's like to lose all contact with my family because they couldn't take it anymore.

I know what it's like to live a life of hopelessness. That's why I have to let people know that change is possible, that healing is available, that hope is real and His name is Jesus! I'm called by God to share the hope I've found in Jesus Christ with people that many others would not, or could not reach.

Jason Fleming National Recovery Ambassador

Jason is currently serving as Prison/Jail Ministry Leader through Forever Free in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He has been involved in recovery ministry since 2016. Jason truly cares about people and he especially has a heart for the people who are incarcerated who feel as if no one cares about them. He began serving in the prison ministry during the beginning of Covid season when he got the privilege of doing his first group through zoom. Doing this class helped him to know for a fact that he was doing what God has called him to do. Jason's quote when it comes to Prison Ministry is, "This is by far my favorite thing to do when it comes to ministry."

Jason has recently accepted the role of National Ambassador for the Prison/Jail Ministry for Recovery Alive and will help and give you all the wisdom he has to help you get started in Prison/Jail Ministry and will help you in any way possible to have an effective prison/jail ministry in your hometown.

Jason and his prison/jail ministry team in Arkansas has been able to put hundreds of men and women through the Progress Group. They believe in this ministry and are working hard to help these men and women go home different. The quote we hear the most from the prison/jail ministry residents is, "This is the best and most effective class in our facility, Thank You." We always remind them that it is isn't us, but it is God.

Joey Boykin National Recovery Outreach Ambassador

In August 2019, Joey Boykin, a business owner for over 25 years, faced a dark period, realizing he was a functioning alcoholic in denial. This led him to step one in his recovery, acknowledging his powerlessness. Joey, a grateful believer in Jesus Christ, celebrates over four years of freedom from alcohol addiction, despite ongoing struggles with patience and anger.

His true recovery began in 2020 with Recovery Alive, where he found healing and learned forgiveness. In 2023, Joey was honored as the Recovery Person of the Year at the second annual Recovery Alive Gala. He is the Recovery Alive Outreach Director at Temple City Church, the First Impressions leader for TCC Recovery Alive in Selma, NC, and the National Ambassador for Outreach at Recovery Alive Inc.

For the past three years, Joey has brought resources, hope, and love to his community, passionately teaching the importance of step 12 in recovery. Leading a team of volunteers, he is dedicated to giving back and sharing how God changed their lives, always seeking to help one more person on their recovery journey.

Boomer Martinez Regional Recovery Ambassador

It was April of 2012. I was in a 6x8 foot prison cell on the largest unit in the State of Texas. Drug and alcohol addiction had taken everything from me and I was at a crossroads in my life. I was hopeless and alone. Grabbing my Bible because I didn’t have letters from home to read, I found the book of Ephesians and my life was radically changed from that day forward.

My name is Boomer and I am a grateful believer in Jesus Christ and He has redeemed me from drugs, alcohol and the effects of prison. I first found a pathway to recovery through AA and NA, but because Jesus was the foundation of my life, I knew I needed more. I found a place for my faith in the 12 steps of Celebrate Recovery, but through the Recovery Alive program, I found way to heal from my past and the ability to walk in true freedom.

In January of 2022 me and my wife Jeni were named the ministry leaders for One City Recovery at One City Church in Beaumont, Tx. We are committed to helping churches develop a Recovery Alive program that transforms the communities and people that they serve.

Christine Sturtevant Regional Recovery Ambassador

Christine Sturtevant is the Women’s Ministry Leader of Horizons Salem Recovery Alive in Salem West Virginia. She leads along side her husband Ben who is also the worship leader. Christine and Ben have two children Alexis and Ben. Alexis is married to Brandon and they have two children: Brett and Austin. Ben is engaged to Victoria and they are planning on getting married in 2025.

Christine has been involved in leadership in Christ based recovery since 2012 and had a dream of starting a recovery program in her hometown. That ministry launched in September of 2017 and has transformed as they relaunched in 2023 as Recovery Alive.

Christine has a passion for seeing other ministries launch in West Virginia and surrounding states. She also has a dream of launching an RA home in her community. She is super excited to begin the process of breathing life into an old home which has been called “Restoring Victoria”. She has a finance background and has experience with grant writing.

Christine is involved in rehab placements, homeless outreach and other community functions. She was recently selected as a local and national Jefferson award nominee for community service and her recovery ministry work. She is blessed to represent Recovery Alive as a Regional Ambassador.
